BRYC EC 12 Invitational Event - 2016

On the 12th November the Brisbane Radio Yacht Club ran an EC 12 invitational event offering members of the Australian EC12 Owners Association and BRYC members an opportunity to have a friendly, competitive sail.

BRYC is steadily improving our Eagleby site and now a permanent fence around the control area has proven to be effective in keeping the local bovines out of the area. There has also been a project to rejuvenate and supplement the course bouys, so it was a good opportunity to trial the improvements.

Gary Taylor was always the one to catch, and, except for a battery glitch late in the day, performed consistently.

Harley Jackman was also very consistent but Gary was always just out of reach.

Most of the field got to score at least 1 second place, so a reasonable spread of results.

The biggest problem of the day was the breeze, which just refused to cooperate, and generally made setting a course difficult, and the top mark a real trial.

Still, we managed to get in 11 races before an early afternoon storm threatened.

Thanks to David Black for keeping score, to Graham Wimberley and Wayne McPherson who assisted as observers, and to Allan Burgess for the photos.

Secretary BRYC
