WMRMYC Inc Winter Scratch Series RD 2, Carbrook - 7th June 2015

Course was set at 180 degrees with the start line out in front of the flagpole, breeze approx.

10 knots with gusts up to 15knots, 10 boats  hit the water for the short beat to the windward mark, two windward and returns was the course for the day, although some thought it was a bit short.

Eddie got off to the perfect start leaving all the big guns in his wake, with 5 different race winners consistency was the order of the day, Alan Bryant and some early problems braking a stay in race one which kept him out of race 2, with every one rallying around to get him to get him back on the water, he did a great job finishing equal third, winning race 5.

By race 6 which there were 4 different winners, Peter kampe who had sailed well had two wins, a 3rd, 2nd ,  4th and 5th, but it was The Mexican Canetoad sailed by Bradley Ginnivan that started to put pressure on the leaders Eddie and Peter by winning race 3 & 6 and finishing with a 2nd , 3rd 3rd and a 6th to share the lead at the half way mark with Peter. Eddie a close third with Alan coming back from the dead to be 4th.

John Dousie who had a couple of minor collisions sailed very well in race 5 to finish 2 and was also in the mix with Scott Walton =5TH at the half way mark.

With the wind still true at 180 degrees all boats were in a rig, seemed like every start the gusts were around 15knots at times and some boats were either early or could not make the pin end, race 7 started off well for Bradley who one easily, his closest rival, peter had all sorts of problem with other boats to finish in 8th, Scott who had struggle most of the day put in a Stella performance to win race 8 , Eddie always just hanging around with a 2nd and Bradley 3rd, Race 9 Eddie had a blinder, leading from start to finish, scott continued his form with a nice 2nd, Alan who had sailed really well in race 6, 2nd race 7 , 2nd and now race 9 with a 3rd was in the mix to win, Overall leader (just) Bradley had a 6th after a collision which he was given redress for.

So it all came down to the last race and Bradley after not sailing for 6months and a full recon done on the old girl won the final race, Alan pushing very hard to finish 2nd with Scott 3rd, Eddie had his worst race of the day which I was very thankful for :)

It was very close racing between Bradley, Eddie, Alan and Peter all day and also a great breeze for Carbrook

PS. Rule 10, Port and Starboard. The onus is on the port boat to give way, also the starboard boat does not have to hail.
