WMRMYC Inc Summer Scratch Series RD 6, Carbrook - 6th April 2014 (FINAL)

Variable light winds once again greeted the 7 sailors at Carbrook  for round six of the scratch racing today.

Although only a small fleet, wins were shared around with 1 win each to Eddie and Scott, 2 to Tony and 4 to myself.  There was a small problem with the boat trailer trying to follow the pickup boat into the lake, but some quick work by members saved the day.  My fault as I forgot to unhook the boat from the trailer, ---- happens.

The racing was tricky.  Winds came from the NE to the W and the SE and that occurred through most of the races in the morning.  Rounding the bottom gate marks seemed like a lucky dip.  Boat positions were changing with the wind shifts.  It would be hard to say whether to alter your rig settings or just put your placing down to the fluky winds.  Some close finishes were recorded but after 8 races the decision was made to give the sailing away because of light winds.

John McLachlan seemed to have something going with the number 5 today.  He scored 5 fifths, scored 40 points in his 8 races, averaging 5 and finished 5th.

Everyone enjoyed themselves but we would like to see a true breeze from one direction next time.

Regards,
Peter Kampe.
